Light Bulb Penguin Ornaments

Light bulb painting is a fun teen activity for a rainy day - or it makes a great holiday gift idea for parents or family members. This art activity for teenagers encourages their creativity and doesn't really require adult supervision - just gather the supplies and let your teens creat!

Teen Activity: Light Bulb Penguin Project

You'll need:

* 2 old light bulbs {one for you and your bestie}
* 1 paint brush
* paints in black, white, orange, and blue
* string

Light Bulb Painting Directions

1. Start by covering your workspace with newspaper to catch any errant drips. This will make clean-up a lot easier.

2. To start the painting project, cover the entire light bulb with white paint. Let this dry completely.

3. Next, using a pencil, outline the light bulb to form the penguin's body.

4. Time for the black paint. Leave the center of the penguin's body white and paint everything else black. Let this dry completely.

5. Lastly, use the orange paint to draw on a nose and blue for the eyes.

6. Once the light bulb is completely dry, tie the string on the top so that it can hang as an ornament.

7. Optional: Repeat the process, to make a matching friendship ornament.

(Hint: it will be easier if you decide ahead of time how many you'd like to make and complete each step of the painting process for each ornament before moving onto the next color.)

Hope you enjoy this fun, creative teen activity as much as we did!
