Service Excellence Training

This service excellence training hunt was made jointly between myself and site visitor Linda Fechner.  She was looking for help to create a workplace scavenger hunt that focused on customer service excellence.  The following activity is a product of our joint brainstorming.

**If you are looking for team building ideas, this is a great team building activity to keep the attitude positive in the workplace.**

Linda did this scavenger hunt over the course of one month. She emailed the clue to her co-workers each day, five days a week, for the entire month. She gave them each a blank answer sheet for the month to jot down the word of the day. At the end, she gave them the final correct answer sheet so they could have a re-cap of "Customer Service Excellence Month." The pdf files which she created for her co-workers...including a service-oriented word search...are added below the hunt. Enjoy!

Helpful Tip: Consider including inspirational quotes with each clue of the day to motivate and inspire your workplace.

Customer Service Excellence Training

"I hope everyone enjoys this exercise.  I wanted to do more of a "scavenger hunt" but it was difficult to put the words to an object to find each day...so I did a word one."
-Linda Fechner

S = SMILE
Greet everyone you meet today with a "_____". (Try it daily, it makes me feel really good!)

E = ENVELOPE
Put in a note to a fellow employee and tell them something positive.

R = RULER
How do you measure up? Write down a "service excellence" goal for the month. Give yourself an inch, but hopefully you'll go more than a foot.

V = VOUCHER
Give a co-worker a "_____" the can redeem at any time. Make it something they would value, but not necessarily for a monetary amount.

I = ICE
Be the "___", step in and cool down an escalated situation. Or put in a positive thought instead of a negative one.

C = CAPTURE
"____" a memory of service in action, or make your own acknowledgement and include a co-worker.

E = EYE
Have a keen watch for service in action and compliment that person on it!

E = EXERCISE
Take care of yourself today so you can serve others. Take 20 minutes and workout. Do it to music that makes you feel good.

X = EXTRA DAY
GIVE ME YOUR WORD FOR SERVICE EXCELLENCE...What is the best way to implement this in our daily work habits?

C = CALL
Talk to your mentor (use the phone), or someone you admire, and thank them for being a role model.

E = ERASE
Forgive and forget frustrations with others. CTRL-ALT-DEL them from your memory.

L = LEND
"____" a hand to someone, before they ask for help.

L = LUNCH
Spend time with a co-worker over a meal. Get to know someone better. Share a funny story. Laugh together.

E = EAR
Make it a point to be a good listener today.

N = NAME
Make it personal, speak to someone and call them by their "____".

C = COIN
Pay it forward. One good deed deserves another. Think of each deed as "change" in the bank.

E = ETIQUETTE
When you use the phone today, make sure you "manners" show in your voice.

H = HELP
Ask someone to do something for you to make your day easier; or have them work with you to complete a tough project. Better yet, offer to do something for someone else!

U = UNITE
Make everyone feel a part of the team, do things together.

N = NUT
Have some fun, be a "___", laugh and enjoy the fun things!

T = TIP
Give a "hint" about what service excellence can do for your attitude, how you are seen by your co-workers or how you feel about your job...so others can feel just as good as you do!

This service excellence training scavenger hunt is a great team building activity to develop positive rapport among employees. This will then trickle down to promote customer service excellence in the workplace. Have fun with this month-long word scavenger hunt!
